Student Loans are History...for USMC

I remember the USN considering this at one point, but it never came to fruition.

I wish they would make my 80+K in outstanding student loans go poof!

Why can't the Navy do something like this?...

Money......I am guessing since the Navy is shrinking and the Marines are growing that the Marines are trying to sweeten the pot as much as possible.

Shit...and all this time I thought I was being smart by not running up 10s of thousands in student loans. I'm graduating with positive net worth, a good savings, and paid for vehicles. All without student loans.

I should have been more irresponsible and lived like a rockstar while I could.

FUCK STUDENT LOANS AND THE DEBT HORSE THEY RODE IN ON. ALL THIS DOES IS REINFORCE BAD HABITS FOR OFFICERS LATER ON WHEN THEY'RE ABLE TO BORROW EVEN LARGER SUMS OF MONEY. IT TREATS THE SYMPTOMS, BUT NOT THE CAUSE.

If I had not joined the Navy, my student loans were an investment.

When I graduated the job market sucked.

GMI grads were getting hired where UofM and MichStaterts were not.

Being that I am in the Navy, it was like investing in flood insurance on a mountain peak.. But if I did not join it would have been worth it.

Except that it was more like investing in flood insurance on a house built out of JELL-O.

Detroit is toast.

Even though the Big 3 are in trouble, Engineers are still making $$$ there. Tier 1 and 2 suppliers are where the big bucks are.

Yeah but you still have to have made 120 payments to be eligible according to that "proposed" legislation. Thanks, but I'd rather have it all paid for and Fly Marines.
