Rumor has it the 27th Fighter Squadron did the shootdown, which is the squadron Frank Luke was in. They also used the callsign today of FRANK 01 and 02.

The 27th wears their unofficial Balloon Busters patch on Fridays.

Glad to see it worked out for the 27th this way. But they better paint a chinese balloon on the jet... and someone better get a new callsign.

Also... who got to take the shot? I'm guessing a commander gave it to a young Lieutenant, rather than steal it.

Hahahaha!!! Who am I kidding?! You KNOW a commander either took it or maybe gave it to his Weapons Officer!


I hope the light gray Eagle community congratulates the F-22 bubbas for their first kill being a balloon. Ha!
